Co-operation is a key component in human interaction -- helping those both within and outside of your own communities -- and is influential to boot. According to new research from the University of British Columbia, human co-operation is responsible for the spread of civilisation. Not because of altruism, though; because of fear of punitive action from a vengeful god.
